Reminder: Change in Lakeview Athletic Seasons
At the start of the 2019-20 school year, the SDEAA will align to the current IESA calendar. Please see the document: 2019-2020 SDEAA IESA Alignment to better gauge when each specific season will take place. Tryout dates and start times of each season are highlighted in yellow. As a reminder, all students who tryout or participate on a Lakeview athletic team must have a current athletic physical form on file in the office before the day of tryouts. Athletic physicals are good for 395 days from the original date signed by a physician. If you have any questions, please contact Beth Nyhlen, Lakeview Athletic Director, at enyhlen@ccsd66.org. This information can also be found on the Lakeview website under the Extra Curriculars tab.

Spotlight on StudentsTECH 2019

Lakeview Students Participate in TECH 2019 in Springfield
The 29th Annual TECH 2019 student technology showcase was held on May 7th at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield where hundreds of students and teachers represented schools from throughout the state. STEM Teacher, Mrs. Erika Myers, along with 8th grade students Alexis Bende, Delaney Turner, and Nick Esposito, represented District 66 at the event. Students showed the public and members of the Illinois State Senate and House of Representatives how technology is being used in the classroom to increase student engagement and improve achievement. Lakeview students demonstrated how they plan, code, and fly drones to complete challenges in STEM class. They also had the opportunity to meet with Senator John Curran. The students did a great job representing our school district! TEAM 66 funded the grant to bring drones into STEM classrooms at Lakeview.

Open Mic Night at Prairieview
On Thursday, May 23rd, ten fifth graders participated in Prairieview's first ever Ukulele Open Mic Night, led by music teacher, Mrs. Carey Crows. Students seeking extra performance opportunities signed up to participate, and learned their self-chosen repertoire independently, outside of the classroom. Many students chose current pop songs, with two additional songs from the 1950s and 1970s, as well as one original song written by one of the performers. Family members and peers came to enjoy the event, which was held in Prairieview's IMC.
