Superintendent Message

Tim Arnold

October is Principal Appreciation Month and in District 66, we are also including our Directors when expressing our appreciation!

District 66 has an outstanding team of principals and directors who provide an essential supporting role for our students, teachers, and parents. While our teachers have the most direct educational impact on our students, we are fortunate to have a team of administrators who take their educational leadership seriously and who strive to build and maintain positive relationships with our students!

The research on educational leadership identifies the most impactful actions for improving student achievement. I am proud to say that our administrative team strives to implement these factors every day on behalf of our students.  These leadership factors include the following:

School-Level Factors Influencing Student Achievement (Principals)

·       Guaranteed and viable curriculum

·       Challenging goals and effective feedback

·       Parental and community involvement

·       Safe and orderly environment

·       Collegiality and professionalism

District-Level Factors Influencing Student Achievement (Directors)

·       Ensuring collaborative goal-setting

·       Establishing non-negotiable goals for achievement and instruction

·       Creating board alignment with and support for district goals

·       Monitoring achievement and instruction goals

·       Allocating resources to support the goals for achievement and instruction

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank our principals and directors – John Hummel, Kim Liles, Kristen Ninni, Mark Pagel, Sean Rhoads, Tom Tiede, and Paul Windsor – for the valuable work they do both as visible leaders, as well as working behind the scenes to ensure our students have the supports they need each and every day!

Tim Arnold, Ph.D.
